Robin is one of our three Glocal Sports founders and made his way to the University of Virginia in 2016 after graduating from high school and playing in the youth leagues of Alemannia Aachen and Borussia Mönchengladbach. He quickly blossomed into a leader and one of the most academically outstanding student athletes. Based on Robin’s experiences as a student athlete at an American university, we have made it our mission to give other young people the opportunity to benefit from the advantages of an athletic scholarship in the US. One of our top priorities is close communication with our student athletes throughout the entire process. Robin’s first hand experience along with Kimberly’s administrative and social skills as well as Chika’s function as a German-speaking contact person in the USA allow us to provide you with extensive support.
As a soccer player in the youth league of German Bundesliga clubs, Robin has had the experience of being portrayed as a failed talent, because he did not make the jump to the pros at first attempt. Many girls and boys in Germany feel the same way, but often don’t know that an athletic scholarship is an ideal alternative for pursuing their dreams.
Within four years, Robin graduated from university with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was selected by the Colorado Rapids in the 2020 MLS draft after leading his team to the national championship final as captain shortly before. Now at 25, he is about to graduate with a master’s degree from another elite university and continues to play soccer at a professional level.
